White rock marathon

Officials with Wellstone’s Dallas White Rock Marathon (WDWRM) presented by NexBank announced today they have reached capacity and closed registration for the 2007 marathon. Pre-race registration was higher than in previous years and race officials capped the total number of participants at 15,000. There will be no on-site registration this year.

“In order to ensure a safe, quality race, we had to cap the total number of participants in all combined categories,” said Marcus Grunewald, WDWRM’s Race Director. “Although marathon registration is closed, we still have plenty of room for spectators and we invite everyone to attend our Marathon Fitness Expo,” Grunewald added.

The 2007 Wellstone’s Dallas White Rock Marathon presented by NexBank will be held on Sunday, December 9th. The full marathon and relay starts at 8am and the half marathon starts at 9am at Victory Park on the south side of American Airlines Center. The Marathon Fitness Expo will be held Friday, December 7th and Saturday, December 8th at the Dallas Convention Center. The primary beneficiary of the marathon and Expo is Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.

An estimated 11,500 runners participated in the 2006 marathon. The increase in runners registered for the 2007 marathon has been attributed to the growing international stature of the WDWRM due to the Dallas weather, picturesque and flat course, live bands, creative aid stations, and fun ancillary events.
